Performing Arts have a rich tradition at the UC Berkeley campus. Music, dance, and theater have been a part of Cal's academic offerings since the early 20th century. The Music and Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies departments train students to begin careers in music, professional theater, dance, theater management, and design.
UC Berkeley is also the home of Cal Performances, the largest multi-discipline performing arts presenter in Northern California. Every year, 300,000 patrons are served through performances and arts education, residency, and community programs.
