Security and Public Safety
The University Police Department provides high-quality, professional crime prevention, protection, and law enforcement services to maintain and promote human safety and the security of property for the Berkeley campus and its associated locations. There are over 64 sworn peace officers, 45 full-time civilian personnel, and 60 student employees in a variety of roles.
The department handles all patrol, investigation, crime prevention education, emergency preparedness, and related law enforcement duties. We hire dedicated staff to serve the campus in the following capacities:
